Why I Love My MINI #1
There was a squeeeal!!!! Then followed some giggles and lots of jumping up and down in my house this morning… all because I got a magazine. This was not an ordinary magazine. It was The MINI International!!! When I got my Scientific American MIND magazine a few weeks ago, my response was a really loud “Woo-hoo!” Getting a MINI publication proved to be a league of its own. I was not prepared for this one. All of my grown-up demeanor and composure went out the window and I became a kid again. My amygdala was definitely in overdrive… and I was having a moment. :) I grabbed the magazine, said my good-bye’s and love-you’s to my husband and son, who took all of this in with amusement. I got in my car, opened the plastic packaging and found a letter from the Director of MINI Canada. Usually, I’d skip any cover letters that came with magazines but oh no, not this one. Every time I stopped at a red light, I had to soak in as much as I could. When I noticed that the letter was signed, “Be MINI!” I think I screamed. I was suddenly reminded of all the thoughts and questions that have been going through my head as I tried to understand how I could feel so strongly about an object, a car… How could a car make me so happy? Well, I was finally able to concretize all the emotions when I digested the meaning of the phrase “Be MINI.” My MINI is an embodiment of attitude, values and beliefs that I organize my life around. It is a way of being.
